Tim Paulissen Conservative Leadership for League City’s Future

Timothy (Tim) Paulissen, longtime League City resident and business owner has announced his candidacy for League City Council, Position 6, in the May 12th election. Having lived in the Oaks of Clear Creek since 1994, Tim has served on the subdivisions Homeowners Association Board for twelve years, serving as President for nine years. “I have really enjoyed working for the residents of the Oaks of Clear Creek, and have learned a lot about working with the City. I’ve learned what the priorities of League City Citizens are.” Said Paulissen.

What Does it mean to be Conservative

It seems that conservative means different things to different candidates. To me, being conservative is more than talking about tax reduction, balanced budgets, and controlled spending. It’s about open government, due diligence, and integrity of process. I believe most of the fiscal problems League City is experiencing today are a direct result of decisions being made without consensus, without careful planning, and without adequate safeguards in place to prevent even the appearance of conflicts of interest.

Big League Dreams is an example of how your tax dollars have been spent on a project that was given a green light before all the questions had even been asked, much less answered. This project was allowed to proceed without a clearly defined bottom line. Your tax dollars will be paying for this project for many, many years to come.

Clearly, we have to change the way we do business. If our current guidelines are broken, let’s fix them. If we need a new direction…let’s find it. We are the largest city in Galveston County. It is time we learned to do the right things the right way.

My pledge to you, the citizens of League City, is that when I am elected to Council, no project will get my vote until every question has been asked and answered. There will be no blank checks and everyone connected with project management will be held accountable. Open government, due diligence, and integrity of process…conservative values for a better tomorrow.
