Welcome!
Tim Paulissen Conservative Leadership for League City’s Future

Dear Friend,
I hope you have a prosperous and happy 2011 and I look forward to doing what I can to help make that happen. I’ve been honored to serve as your League City councilman and to have been elected unanimously by my fellow council members as Mayor Pro-tem in 2009. I was blessed to be unopposed for re-election in 2010.

I love League City and will continue to work diligently to maintain the quality of life we’ve come to enjoy. Currently we’re facing challenging economic times. The struggling national economy, NASA budget cuts, and a federal moratorium on offshore drilling hit local folk’s right in their pockets. The economy is rough on our neighborhoods. Burglaries on vehicles are up 15 % in the last year alone. “For Sale” signs are popping up everywhere with financial uncertainties still ahead.

Despite these adversities, I’m committed to maintaining quality city services—including police, fire and emergency response—without increasing taxes or fees. In the last few months, higher rates on water bills has been discussed, EMS fees were increased, and fines from red light cameras continue to take money from citizens and put it in the city’s coffers. These kinds of fees and fines are not “solutions” to the city’s budget challenges but economic burdens on you, the citizens we serve.

League City’s current Administration promised leadership and change but has failed to deliver. Salaries for the top five city officials have grown to nearly $1 million dollars.  Spending on “feel good” projects continue to cost taxpayers thousands of hard-earned dollars that we can’t afford. Three years ago, I stood alone with a fellow councilmember, challenging the bid process with the AmeriWaste Trash Contract. We requested an investigation from the District Attorney’s office. We were the only two council members to vote against their higher rates.

The November 3, 2010 midterm election results delivered an unmistakable message to elected officials. Citizens demand and deserve government by the people, for the people. We want limited government that provides quality services as efficiently as possible, and treats tax dollars with care, recognizing that the money belongs not to elected officials, but to you, our neighbors and fellow citizens.

My voting record over the last four years has consistently reflected the above mentioned values.  My position on city council is one of service, and trust that my neighbors place in me. I respect that trust, and treat it with a great sense of responsibility. I know that good government starts at the top.

As your current councilperson I can no longer sit idle and not be part of the solution. I’ve been repeatedly asked to run for Mayor, and with much deliberation and careful thought, I now have decided to pursue that office. If you share my vision for our community, I hope I can count on your support and vote for Mayor on May 14th in the city election. I hope you take the opportunity to contact me at 281-455-3816, with any questions or concerns about me, our city, or our city government.  Please join me as we work to keep League City not just a place we live, but a place we love.
Warmest regards,

Tim Paulissen
