Conservative Leadership for League City’s Future
ISSUES I WANT TO ADDRESS
The District- The City- The Kids
The controversies
that have arisen over the years between the City and C.C.I.S.D. have
been well documented. In my opinion, there is ample blame for both
sides. Much of the cause and effect has to do with a mutual lack of
communication and a failure, by either side, to display the type of
respect any working partnership requires. Adversarial relationships
seldom produce genuine compromise, but they do carry enough residual
animosity to fuel the next unfortunate “event”.
It is my sincere hope, that as a newly elected Councilman, I will
have an opportunity to continue to build on the new relationships
with C.C.I.S.D. that will allow the City and the District to share
the awesome responsibility of providing for the future needs of our
children and the citizens of League City. I firmly believe that only
through mutual cooperation and genuine trust can we hope to provide
solutions that are at once beneficial to the District and to the
City. The City has to acknowledge the legitimate role of the
District to plan and provide facilities. The District needs to
acknowledge that their plan need not ignore the Master Plan of the
City. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive of one another.
My children are products of C.C.I.S.D. and I am proud of the
superior job the District has done in providing quality education.
Having said that, I am not prepared to give blanket approval to
every decision the District makes with regard to facilities and
planning. As a member of Council my priorities must include the well
being of the City. |
